Bishop Francis Wanderi together with his wife Mary are the founders of the Peoples Church Ministries. Born in 1952 in the times of Emergency, he is the first son and forth child of Florence and Mr. Wanderi amongst four sisters.
Bishop Francis grew up without a father because his father was detained by colonialists until 1959. His father died in 1964 and from then on he depended on his mother for provision and discipline.
He started teaching when he was 12 years old by helping a neighbor learn how to write, do arithmetics and use a wrist watch. In 1975, he started working as untrained teacher and taught in schools like St. Peters Nyandarua, D.E.B. Nyahururu town and Mikungi. He taught in Kabiruini Secondary School until he left to be one of the pioneers of Ngaini Secondary School. In 1979 he joined Siriba Teachers College, and it is when he was on training as a teacher that he gave his life to the Lord on 20th October, 1979. He served as the head of student department between 1980 to 1981.
In 1980, he joined Region Beyond Ministry and it is then that he met people like Bishop Mulandi, Bishop Kamere, Bishop Jimmy Kimani, Bishop Mbogo and Philip Mbatia. These people and others greatly influenced his life. He met Mary Wairimu Mundia in 1981 and they got married in 1985. He was ordained into the ministry in 1986 by the A.C.C.E.A. the now C.C.I. and graduated from the Ministry the same year.
He served in Regions Beyond Ministry and after attending an international conference in Amsterdam Holland which was organized by the Billy Graham Association, he resigned from his teaching job in 1986 when he was a deputy headteacher at Rugiri School. From 1986 to 1989, he served as the administrator of the Regions Beyond Ministry. He joined Thika Christian Church to do pastoral work until 1991 January when he and his family moved to Kerugoya.
They pastored Kerugoya Christian Church and helped plant Churches in Embu, Nyeri and Kirinyaga. He served as a member of National Executive Council of African Christian Church, National Chairman of the Pastors Council of A.C.C.E.A., member of the Diocesan Council, Diocese of Thika and as an overseer of Mt. Kenya Region.
In year 2000, together with his wife, they formed The Peoples Church Ministries. His apostolic giftings and anointing has taken him to different countries to preach, train and evangelize.
Francis has imparted and impacted many lives and he is a father to many spiritual children. Francis lives in Kerugoya with his wife Mary and together they have four sons, Philip, Pheodor, Paul and Promise (P4). He is and has been a gift to the body of Christ.
